This blog is probably inspired by the fact that I have exams in 2 weeks and this might just be one of the productive ways I am procrastinating studying but nows the best time as any other.
I’m sure you’ve heard of this quote by Albert Einstien, Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. Too often nowadays people judge themselves based on what they see on social media, or compare themselves with their friends and acquaintances and let’s be honest it has done more harm than good.
If you keep trying to better yourself at something you don’t even like, you’re the only one suffering. Each and every decision you make impacts you first and most gravely. Everybody is extraordinary at something its just a matter of time before you find out what it is.
In full disclosure, in every single one of my parent-teacher meetings in school all my teachers would tell my parents how I’m such a fun-loving person and how it’s so easy for me to get along with people from any age group and my mom would be like “Yes, ma’am we’re well aware of that but how is she doing academically? ”And it all kind of went downhill from there. I have never been the brightest student and nor do I plan on it. If I were to judge myself with the grades I get, HAHAHAA damn would I be one depressed child.
I am lucky like that though, my parents understand that there are so many other things id rather be doing than lock myself in a room and study. They have come to terms with the fact that I am never going to get all A* but instead they’re proud of the person I am and the person I am becoming. They have raised me well and now have left it up to me to make something of myself, no matter what I choose to do.
In our parent’s generations, it was easier for them to know what they wanted to do because they merely didn’t have as many options as us, but that exactly is the reason why some of us will never know what we’re truly good at. We’re given so many options and so little time, but you gotta trust yourself and your gut and simply take life as it comes because at the end of the day you’re going to live with your choices. So how about you make some good ones today? And stop judging yourself for something that’s simply not meant for you.
